About the Event
Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) starts with what students know and builds on their intuitive problem-solving processes so that student grows in their understanding of rigorous math concepts. Research shows that CGI increases: students’ math achievement, students’ problemsolving experiences and teachers’ math knowledge. Making tools and manipulative available to students is an integral part of understanding how students are reasoning about the mathematics. Together we will explore student reasoning by analyzing the tools (manipulative), strategies and models students use.
